February 2018 NEW WEBSITE Please go to our new website for the latest information on our foundation and the birthplace home. https://www.hemingwaybirthplace.com Feb 20, 2018 12:27:15 PM Reblog It 0 December 2017 Join us on Boxing Day, December 26th (12:00 - 4:00 p.m.) Posted December 15, 2017 Sometimes people think that Boxing Day is called such because Hemingway was a boxer. Actually, the name of this special day, which is always held on Dec. 26 dates back to the medieval ages. Boxing Day is a traditional English celebration, centuries old, and still celebrated as a holiday throughout the world. On the day after Christmas, nobles presented gifts from their celebrations to their servants and people outside of their manors and castles. Their gifts were presented in boxes, hence the name of the day. The event includes music, the Hemingway Readers Theatre along with traditional English bakery items, punch and tea. You can reserve your tickets now at PURCHASE TICKETS HERE Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
